Comelec processes over 5.1 M voter registration applications

MANILA, Philippines — More than 5.1 million voter registration applications have been processed nationwide by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) as of Friday, May 16, according to the latest data shared by the poll body.

Figures from the Election and Barangay Affairs Department Director Divina Blas-Perez on Monday showed that a total of 5,142,336 applications had been processed across the country ahead of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) this year. 

The BSKE is scheduled on Nov. 2, 2026 under Republic Act No. 12232, which moved the elections from the previously scheduled December 2025 polls.

Calabarzon recorded the highest number of processed applications at 838,520, followed by Central Luzon with 574,223 and the National Capital Region with 562,879.

Comelec earlier said voter registration for the BSKE would run until Monday, May 18, with applications accepted daily, including weekends and holidays, at Offices of the Election Officer and designated satellite registration sites nationwide.

Aside from new voters, other types of applications accepted during the registration activities are name and status changes, correction of entries, reactivation, updating, and transfers from overseas to local.

Data indicated that all regions posted a 100-percent submission rate as of May 16. /das
