Germany has opened applications to teaching programmes targeting experienced Kenyan German-language teachers seeking international exposure.
The programme, announced by the German Embassy in Nairobi on May 14 will have selected teachers who will spend nearly one academic year teaching in Germany under the 2027 PAD Professional Development Programme.
“The 2027 PAD Professional Development Programme invites experienced German-language teachers from junior or senior high schools to spend 11.5 months at a school in Germany,” the German Embassy in Nairobi stated in its announcement.
Applicants accepted into the programme will receive either a monthly stipend of more than €1,500, roughly Ksh227,00 or an employment contract paying approximately €2,500 every month, translating to nearly Ksh370,000 depending on prevailing exchange rates.

The programme is expected to attract teachers from junior and senior secondary schools interested in sharpening their teaching skills while experiencing Germany’s education system and cultural environment firsthand.
Key Requirements
Among the documents listed as mandatory are legally certified true copies of public sector-related degrees, diplomas, and certificates attained at NQF Level 7 (a Bachelor’s Degree, Advanced Certificate, or Advanced Diploma, signifying an intermediate foundation of technical, conceptual, or vocational knowledge) or any higher qualification level recognised by the accrediting bodies.
Applicants are also required to submit valid and active Public Service Sector Education and Training Authority (PSETA) registration letters confirming they are recognised as approved Assessors or Moderators under the institution responsible for regulating public sector training and professional standards.
The application guidelines further require legally binding Service Level Agreements signed directly between the practitioner and the institution submitting the application to ensure accountability and compliance during programme implementation and professional engagements.
For candidates holding foreign qualifications, a South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) evaluation certificate remains compulsory to verify that international academic credentials meet the required equivalence standards recognised within South Africa’s education framework.
Step-By-Step Application Process
Applicants must first visit the official PAD application portal and carefully read programme requirements, eligibility conditions, and submission instructions thoroughly.
Candidates should begin the online application by entering accurate personal details, including passport numbers, nationality, address, birth information, and contacts.
After completing the first application section, the portal automatically saves progress and sends applicants a unique editing link via email.
Applicants must continue filling in the remaining sections detailing academic qualifications, teaching experience, German language proficiency, current institution, and professional responsibilities carefully.
The programme also requires supporting documents, including signed forms, certificates, recommendation letters, medical reports, and language qualification documents where applicable, seven to eight documents as per the German Embassy.
“All applicants must upload attachments 1–7. The application can only be submitted after these attachments have been uploaded. If applicable, please also upload attachment 8 and your certificates,” stated the German Embassy.
Several forms may require signatures from school principals, German language advisers, medical officers, or other authorised educational representatives before uploading.
It is worth noting that all mandatory documents must be scanned clearly in PDF format and uploaded successfully through the portal before final application submission.
Before submitting officially, applicants should carefully review every section, confirm uploaded attachments, and regularly monitor email updates from PAD.
The embassy insists that the application should be done before the July 22 deadline.
