Baidu CFO says AI could soon match search business in profit and cash returns

Baidu CFO Henry He said the company’s AI businesses could soon generate profits and cash returns comparable to its legacy search business. AI-related revenue, spanning cloud computing and applications, now accounts for more than half of Baidu’s sales, he said.

He also said the profit margin on AI revenue could approach that of search in the near term as demand for cloud services and AI chips grows. Investments in new GPU clusters supporting AI services could pay for themselves within two to three years. [Bloomberg Línea]
