CRTC opens up applications to Broadband Fund

Applications are open until August 13

The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) is now seeking new Broadband Fund proposals to improve internet services.

Essentially, the fund pays for projects to improve broadband internet and mobile wireless services.

However this time around, the CRTC notes that services for rural, underserved, or indigenous communities would be of importance this time around.

This is the fourth time that the CRTC has opened up applications for broadband fund proposals, the last round dating back to 2023.

The CRTC notes that it has improved the broadband fund this time around, making it easier to submit a proposal, and speeding up the evaluation process to get projects underway faster.

The deadline to submit applications through the online form is Aug. 13, 2026 at 8PM ET/5PM PT.

Unlike the 2023 round of funding, there is no signs of how much that will be given out at the time of writing, although I imagine that will come out soon.
