‎GAC receives100 economic concentration applications in Q3 2024

The General Authority for Competition (GAC) received 100 economic concentration applications during the third quarter of 2024, an increase of 12% year-on-year.

In a report issued today, Oct. 15, the authority said economic concentration applications for foreign establishments accounted for the lion’s share (65%) of the total. Meanwhile, those for local establishments represented the remaining 35%.

GAC issued its no-objection for 60 economic concentration applications. It also granted 28 no-notification-required certificates, and is currently considering 12 applications that are still under study, as shown in the following table:

The information & telecommunications sector accounted for the majority (23%) of total economic concentration applications in Q3 2024, followed by the manufacturing sector (20%), as shown in the following table:
